Adelaide

Adelaide is a principal character in Revolving Door who first appears in Chapter 1. Adelaide was quarantined into a laboratory as a child, when her gene editing powers were first discovered. Life in isolation with only books for company has made her an anxious, awkward person, albeit one with encyclopedic knowledge of many things. She learned her mannerisms from the head of the laboratory project and was not allowed to read fiction books while in captivity.
